"Friendly Service That Shines, but Staffing Could Be Strengthened"
We had to attend a funeral and accommodation options were limited but we found this property. We received a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival, and it was clear from the outset that the team is highly dedicated to guest service. The staff made every effort to accommodate our needs throughout the stay, often multitasking across various areas of the property. While the team's commitment is commendable, additional staffing during peak times could enhance efficiency and guest experience.
The on-site bar provides a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, though we noted that the wine selection was somewhat limited during our visit. Ensuring a broader and consistently stocked drinks menu would be a welcome improvement.
Breakfast was a highlight — freshly prepared, with a wide variety of options available, all cooked to order and served promptly. At present, evening meals are not offered, but the location is well-served by nearby takeout options including pizza, Chinese, and fish & chips. These can conveniently be enjoyed within the bar area.
Guest rooms are spacious and clean but relatively basic in terms of furnishings. Storage space is limited, particularly in rooms accommodating more than two guests — for example, a three-person room provided only a single drawer for clothing.
Overall, the property is well-suited for short stays or overnight visits. For longer stays, guests may wish to plan ahead for meals and consider the limited storage facilities.
Room Tip: If staying multiple nights, consider planning meals in advance, as there is currently no in-house chef.
